Choosing Your Photographer

We asked Wagga Wagga Wedding photographer Tina Bingham from Peppermint Studios what are the best tips for those couples who are just starting to look at booking their photographer for their special day.
'Firstly, don't assume its too early to book. Just like good venues photographers are booked sometimes two years in advance, although most people are not quite that organised, securing the date is the first obvious thing. Secondly, make sure you are happy with your choice, ask to meet the photographer so you can not only discuss your requirements, but get a feel to make sure your photographer is on the same track as you. You are spending an important day with them so you need someone you are comfortable with. Also make sure you clearly understand what is on offer, professional photography services differ greatly when it comes to providing finished products. Whatever you do, don't feel pressured or pushed to book. Believe it or not as a photographer I don't want to shoot a wedding for someone who is not happy with their choice.'
The best way to make a decision is obviously to look at the work your photographer has done, websites, blogs and Facebook is at your disposal, but if you can't see a lot of images online, ask to see their portfolio.
'one of the common things we hear as professional photographers is that it is so expensive. I guess it comes down to what you value.  If it is important to you to have quality images then a professional photographer with years experience is the best option. The I can get it cheaper approach is Ok, if your photos are not the  top of your priorities.
Lastly remember your wedding day is about YOU, not your photographer, let them know as much as you can about your style and what is important to you, your story is just waiting to be told'
